María Félix was an actress as great as her personality, the muse of writers, designers and singers who brought the name of Mexico to the most important screens and film festivals in the world. Who was Maria Felix?

María Félix was a Mexican actress, known as the diva of the golden age of Mexican cinema. She was the largest representative of the big screen in Mexico at an international level, also participating in well-known films in different European countries. Known as María Bonita or La Doña for her role in the film Doña Bárbara (1943), she also became a style icon of the time for her extravagant taste and ironic personality.

Career

During her career, María Félix devoured the big screen with her perfect features and overwhelming personality. She was the femme fatale, the unrestrained rebel, a volcanic diva impossible to tame. She made her debut in 1942 with her future husband Jorge Negrete in El peñón de las ánimas. The following year, she played Doña Bárbara after the Venezuelan novelist Rómulo Gallegos, upon seeing her, exclaimed that he had found his literary heroine in a woman of flesh and blood. That was how she acquired, thanks to the third film of her filmography, the nickname "La Doña".
